Western Mass Politics and Insight has learned from various sources that Senator Edward Kennedy had lost his battle with brain cancer. The Massachusetts Senator died at his home in Hyannisport on Cape Cod.
The last of the Kennedy brothers from that generation, he leaves behind his wife Victoria Reggie and children by his first wife Joan Bennett, Kara Anne , Edward Jr., and Patrick, a Congressman from Rhode Island. His sister Jean Smith is the only surviving member of the senator's generation of the Kennedy family. In addition to his immediate family he leaves behind his brothers and sisters numerous children and grandchildren.
